Fibre Channel Association Launches Website for Technology End Users MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 19, 1998--The Fibre Channel Association (FCA), at their Annual Summit, launched a Website designed to be the premier source in news and detailed information about Fibre Channel. Fibre Channel is a gigabit connectivity technology for connecting today's client/server distributed networks with next-generation storage networks. According to the FCA's Web Marketing Manager Marty Francis, the association's mission is to become a complete resource for end users and resellers who want to provide their clients with Fibre Channel solutions. "The resellers want to get this market going, and the FCA can help by providing up-to-the-minute information on products and solutions," Francis said. FCA revamped its home page (www.fibrechannel.com) with the help of Planet Media Corp. of Orange, CA. The new site has an extensive technology section, including pointers to ANSI standards information, a Fibre Channel primer, white papers on Fibre Channel solutions and member companies. "The new site is more than double the size of the original site. The FCA has ambitious plans," added Francis. "A product showcase will be launched in the next development phase, where end users and resellers can get details on the newest Fibre Channel switches, hubs and storage devices." The site also keeps worldwide members up to date on meetings, seminars, and member news. The members section contains contact information as well as links to affiliate associations in Japan and Europe and to related organizations like the Fibre Channel Loop Community (FCLC). The FCA is a 60-plus member organization that fosters the development of Fibre Channel interconnect technology. The association's broad member base includes representatives from systems and communications manufacturers and systems integrators. Members are manufacturing and marketing cutting-edge Fibre Channel products, ranging from storage, servers and switches to hubs, adapters and test equipment.
