>> about 1/4 of their revenue comes from each of: database, software (Oracle Financials, tools, etc.), consulting services (at their
traditional minimum-wage costs <G>), and educational services (Oracle University).

Well, if you took away the database and tools sales, consulting and educational services for those lines would disappear. True for Applications as well. The downside is that services are very labor intensive; the upside is that they generate lots of revenue, and help to build customer relationships.

I think that if you look at most large software companies in the applications space, or even SYBS or IFMX, you'd see a similar mix.

In short: that observation is nothing unique or so special.

Great Info. Time to learn more about ORCL. This company
is truly a blue chip leader the doesn't get the respect that
it deserves. It may not be an INTC or MSFT yet. However, IMO
ORCL is close behind.

The NAS is holding up well this week of opitons expiration.
