Beauty eyes Beholder Hi bob, I do hope you are well and hope you stay well. It is always nice to hear your voice. I never like seeing this thread move over but it is the common ground for all of us now. The soil here is perhaps deeper than anywhere else in our land and it is quite deep in places. It is rare to see any of us take off our armour today isn't it? But here, it happens. The man in the gray armour removed it carefully and stacked it near at hand in a familiar pile. The armour was still bright but the leather straps were burnished with a patina of age and use. He was no grayer, just older, he looked like he had spent years on the battlefield. He drove his standard into the rich earth where it stood with the others, so unlikely, all of them together. Yet there it was, the only place where some of these standards would ever be found side by side. He was well past threescore years, sun burnt yet still strong, he lifted the gate and entered. They would gather on familiar ground, shaded by a forest they had planted a generation ago.
