Integrated Telecom Express Joins Universal ADSL Working Group to Accelerate ADSL Mass Market

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Integrated Telecom Express,
Inc. (ITeX) announced today that it has been accepted as a member of the
Universal ADSL Working Group (UAWG) for its low-cost ADSL and G.Lite
technology, developed over the last two years. ITeX will be active in the
UAWG by contributing and supporting the direction of an open, interoperable
ADSL solution.
The UAWG's goal is to draft splitterless ADSL requirements that would be
proposed to the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), in hope that the
ITU will adopt the UAWG's recommendations as the "simplified" or "G.Lite" ADSL
standard.
"Given the significant cost impact on consumers, a splitterless solution
is very critical to the success of ADSL technology," remarked Mr. Jow Peng,
ITeX's Director of Marketing. "We believe ITeX is very advanced in the
development of a low-cost splitterless ADSL solution that meets the UAWG's
universal ADSL requirements."
"With our years of experience in consumer electronics and PC integrated
circuit (IC) industry, we have a deep understanding of the consumer market.
Based on this background, ITeX has been developing a high-performance, cost
effective and easy to install splitterless ADSL solution. The UAWG's
simplified ADSL initiatives coincide with what we have been doing for the past
two years. ITeX is very excited to be able to expedite the ADSL deployment
along with other UAWG members," Peng continued.
"We applaud the UAWG's promotion of a splitterless ADSL specification.
Making this fundamental decision puts ITeX in a very good position to deliver
a superior ADSL solution to enable the mass market," Peng concluded.
