Zeev, you got me. Fearless leader? I like it! -g- As irrational as this market is - I am trying to hedge my short positions against insanity, so I am betting insanely. -g- After all, before I learned to dig through company financials and comb through the statements by executives, I was a momentum trader. I still do that on and off. I told a friend to buy short-term calls on AMAT when it was at 80 (pre-split) saying that they will beat the estimates handily (I called the company and talked to someone over there.) He did and I was stuck with the puts I bought earlier when the stock was at 70. I didn't buy the calls since I was expecting the shake-out we saw. He was puzzled by my action. I told him the fundamental reasons for my being short on AMAT. It turned out, he was a winner and, eventually, I was too. But I should have played it both ways - especially since Terry Davis was so upbeat about it. Perhaps I have to learn to mix the best of my skills (?) to maximize my profits. Regardless of what I thought of AOL's worth, it almost doubled in price since I started buying puts on it. If only I played it on both sides, I would have been a winner. Only recently I made a quick trade on AOL (calls) and made good money on it. Given the fact that internet stocks are so hot lately, I thought ATHM is going to catch-up with the rest of the group. Besides, there are rumors that AT&T or Time Warner may invest in the company. Some say AOL is interested in making a bid. Even during the worst of the sell-off the stock hardly dipped below 20. So, there is strong support for this stock. Let us see if my break-out theory works. I know, none of these make a good fundamental case for the stock. If I can sell the stocks at higher prices than what I bought, who cares? -g- One thing is for sure. As the saying goes - "those who live by the sword shall perish by it," and I am aware of it. While the exuberance lasts, I shall continue to nibble here and there. -g- -Mohan
