Years ago someone told me air conditioning ruined Florida. From an environmental standpoint they had a point Well as things continue to warm up in the world (due to AGW) air conditioning will become necessary for humans to exist. Older air conditioners had nasty refrigerants in them such as R12. My Mini splits run on PV's and storage to heat and cool my house. No fossil fuels required and state of the art refrigerants that don't pollute if they leak. Oh, by the way.. no grid required.
