I share your wishes, but we need to be realistic. Ukraine's F-16s won't be used for intercepting RuZZian bombers and fighters. That takes a level of training that Ukrainian F-16 pilots just didn't have the time for.

However, F-16s will be used to shore up Ukraine's own stretched-out fleet of fighter jets. And in that sense, they will be used in much the same way, namely launching stand-off munitions and intercepting drones and cruise missiles.

Unfortunately, Ukraine already lost an F-16 during an interception mission:
