I have built so many I have lost count. I do not have access to the tools to do the deck work - I could get a tool to do the O ring work - the tool costs about what O ringing the block would cost. That is the thing, how much work do I farm out? If I pull the block, does it make sense to get it bored and new slugs tossed in. And which slugs should I use, followed by "Will it be machined to spec" Got to factor in time and all the other house and garden stuff that needs to get done.....then there is play time. Building engines I no longer consider play time :) Of course if the block gets pulled should I drop $1500.oo into a new flywheel and clutch? A bit like playing the market - lots of variables to consider, even when you do the right thing you can get blind sided.
