It was volcker and 15+% rates.

I'd have to go back and look but I think inflation was running in the 2's during 2020.

I'd also have to check what inflation was in 1980 but I think it was fairly high.

According to my android phone these were the numbers

1978 was 7.6%
1979 was 11.3%
1980 was 13.5%
1981 was 10.3%
1982 was 6.1%

2020 was 1.27%
2021 was 4.7%
2022 was 8%
2023 was 3.4%

Volcker author of 21% interest rates, I was lucky did not own a home yet, I knew people who had to walk away from their mortgages
