I didn't read it that way. For context, he was responding to this statement by i-node:

"Why the fuck would you oppose absolutely free speech?"
To not say everything that comes into one's head is one of those things that we all "learned in kindergarten," which is about behavior and civility, not rights. Seems to me that his was the obvious answer to i-node's question.

What we do vs what we have a right to do is an important distinction. I was making a point about that in an entirely different context recently, the discussion about the world owing us a living and some folks asserting a right to support by the government. But I digress...

Further along Rat states clearly that companies and individuals can constrain speech but the government can't. I chimed in with one of my hobbyhorses framing the point as one of staying in one's lane.

As long as we three are all clear...
