ADSK... A potential good daytrade for today. Earnings out today. ADSK is a terrific software company. Their AutoCAD design is very popular. In October before the Asian currency crisis hit, the stock had doubled. Then suddenly in three weeks the stock plunged 25% since it is well known that Autodesk gets nearly two-thirds of its revenues from overseas. 40% of Autodesk's sales come from Europe, and only 20 - 25 percent come from Asia; less than half of that is from Southeast Asia. It is trading at 18 times this year's estimated earnings of $2.10. Earnings are expected to be up 48% this year. The company has a pristine, debtless balance sheet, $6.90 a share worth of cash and a new authorization to repurchase almost 20 percent of its outstanding share. Autodesk dominates a growing software market. It is rapidly expanding that market, with new products like computer mapping software and a line of multimedia visualization and animation software. In all 19 new applications now represent about 30 percent of sales. Although 'Smart Money' says Autodesk is a buy and hold growth stock you can easily PLAY this stock for earnings.
