Jefferson,

How about the overwhelming amount of debt incurred or soon-to-be incurred on this new fab?

John.

Dewy,
Re -- and soon get to ~$2.6B in hard assets alone..

But what about Debt of 700 million in loans and notes. Face it Dewy, Should AMD declare bankruptcy, and decide to reorganize, dumping their K6 line, The shares will be worthless (Of course they could be used for toilet paper -- not entirely worthless)

Paul7 Dewpoint, The market value of a Fab is currently below replacement cost of construction. The Asian crisis increased the supply of available fabs a great deal. Asian desperate for $US hard cash are putting the Fabs up for sale, or the entire company at bargain basement prices below replacement costs. For confirmation I point to Intel latest negotiations to acquire Samsung. It'a a value added move considering the comparive value advantage of the US dollar against the Korean Wan, coupled with the decline in the value of Samsung stock price makes it cheaper to accuire a Fab alla Intel/Dec. then it is to build a new one. In fact the Intel/Dec fab deal is now inferior to anything available in Asia. You may want to reappraise your appraisal. Also what ever car your driving is now worth about $2,000.00 less. Expected average new car price imported from Asia is expected to be $2,000.00. that know down the value of every car out there by an equalivant amount, but if you don't tell any body I won't eigther. That is all. Caio.
