MM...can't fault that impeccable logic..for sure... But see my comment about "Dead Money"... hate waiting when that money could be working <gg>.. so of course I'm late to the party... but maybe not...and when I get there I've got that extra 40% out of TER, VECO, etc.. Just don't run that sucker up more than 40% tooo quick :-) Duane

mindmeld,

There were some fine points in the most recent Chaplinsky update (dated 2/18) of RMBS (post Intel Developers Forum) that I didn't have time to post. Here goes:

1) Intel confirms that alternative memory proposals (DDR and SL-DRAM) do not meet the company's long term main memory bandwidth requirements and recommended the adoption of RDRAM.

2) The slightly higher RDRAM die costs will be offset by reduced packaging costs and shorter resting costs relative to SDRAM (Direct RDRAMs are tested at higher frequency speed).

3) The fact that Intel is accelerating RIMM modules on the PC (to manage transition risk) should be viewed as a positive development for Rambus because if Direct RDRAM is at only a slight price premium to SDRAM, PC OEMs should quickly adopt Direct RDRAM due to the greater than 200% performance benefit over SDRAM-100.

Again, at your own risk....
