HELP... Anyone - I'm trying to escape from OLDE
I don't know where to go. I know basically nothing about internet trading. I want to get away from:

Minimum stock trades of $1000
Giant commissions on stocks under $1 (a ten cent stock would have cost >30% in commissions)
Placing limit orders only for one day on stocks < $1
Having to buy at market after 2 limit orders fail to be filled on stocks < $1
Waiting for a broker to come on the phone
Failure to notify me if my trade goes through

I've looked at a lot of comments on this thread but it is hard for me to put it all together. There are a lot of savvy people here with lots of experience. I would like to try some internet trading and have certain features in mind. I'm sure some of you have the same broker needs as I do so someone can steer me in the right direction based on their knowledge of their own broker(s).

I would like to do the following (may not be possible with one particular broker):

1. Trade unlimited shares for a fixed or low cost
2. Trade penny stocks without having to call a live broker
3. Make stock trades of less than $1000
4. Place limit orders for more than one day on stocks < $1
5. Open a cash and margin (reasonable rate) account
6. Open an account with $5000 or less
7. Have access during those crunch times that come along
8. Get free real time quotes
9. Have an easy to use site without confusion
10. Get quick and easy confirmation of trades

Other Questions

Can I transfer a portion of my portfolio stocks to a new account or is it an all or none process on transfers.

Some info I've seen talks about on line trading of "listed" stocks. Are these just NY stock exchange stocks? Aren't OTC stocks "listed"?

I have a local Scottsdale office. Would that be an advantage?

Would it be best to have more than one account... one for the little stock and one for the more costly stock?

How do I open an account... download an application and send in a certified check by mail?
.............................................

Any suggestions for a reliable (not necessarily cheapest) online broker that fits my needs? I sure appreciate any and all suggestions.

Thanks, Bob
