SMOD...Fortunately SMOD, shouldn't have the destiny of CIEN. If you have it and it gaps up in the morning I would sell at the first downtick. I held on to INTC most of the day yesterday even though it was climbed up to 2 points gain in the morning because the stock was in an uptrend all day and I sold near the close of the market, but I sold SMOD at about 2:00 p.m. I would sell SMOD if it gaps up but wait to see if continues to uptick..If you manage to get over 1 1/2 points that would be a good target to get out.

CIEN... CIEN is down in after hours trading yesterday because of a warning. I got out last night after a 2 1/2 gain. Technology stocks that have exposure to Asia or are depending on profits from a very limited source can post warnings and that translates to losses of up to 20% after the warning. Ciena Corp reported that fiscal first quarter earnings tripled, but warned that second quarter profit will likely be lower than expected as a result of reduced orders from Worldcom Inc. It is not necessary to hold these volatile stocks THROUGH the earning report to made a nice score with them. Usually the 2-3 days before the report and especially the DAY the report comes out will give you 1-3 point intraday range for a good daytrade. CIEN is a high flyer and has shown lots of strength in recent weeks. It could have been played over and over again for nice gains.
