steve.

if i had to choose one
holding to absorb all of my
positions, lucent would be that one.

it is certainly a possibility even without
noting the recent surge in lucent: there
are several factors which have contributedto that.
beyond lucent:
how do you feel this would
ulimately affect ciena, should it be the case.

DSL MUXES OFFER MORE WAN OPTIONS -- 3Com, Paradyne debut wares at ITU show

Didn't know if this had been posted.

By Salvatore Salamone

Digital subscriber line services are slow in coming, but not for lack of hardware.

As DSL technology moves from trials to modest commercial offerings, new equipment tailored to deployment environments is making its way to market.

This week, 3Com (www.3com.com) and Paradyne Corp. (www.paradyne.com), Largo, Fla., will introduce products at the ITU TeleCom Interactive show in Geneva, Switzerland.

3Com is rolling out the Affinity Line Concentrator, which is an ATM-based DSL access multiplexer (DSLAM) for use in a telco's central office. The initial product in the LC line will include a 16-slot data rates and enables four users to be supported from a single DSLAM.

The new line supports high-speed symmetric and asymmetric/symmetric rate-adaptive DSL in one DSLAM. This combination of technologies gives a carrier more flexibility when deploying DSL services.

Pricing for the HotWire line starts at $495. For more information, call Paradyne at 813-530-2000.
