Interesting point, Ed! I was reading a little of the Red Herring today in the bookstore and found that recent FC article/mention pretty interesting. There is a special section dedicated to the new popular private 'hot' networking companies, too. Among the list is GE people like Foundary, I believe and then the main FC people we have heard about --Brocade, Arxcel, Vixel, and Gadzoox. My memory isn't too hot bc I threw it down and am waiting for my free subscription copy (:-), but I believe they mention 'Anchor' as a 'competitor' of Brocade's. When I saw the spelling, I was laughing out loud in the store, and thought 'not again' bc I still feel like Ancor is the Rodney Dangerfield of the FC world right now...gets no respect. I also wondered if our friend Brenda helped with that one. :-) What was interesting, too, was that I believe it stated that gadzoox and vixel were both switch makers too. I know about the low end switch from gadzoo, but I did not know that vixen was making a switch. I do not know if that is correct? Anyone? I didn't see a mention of G2? Why not? Maybe I didn't look hard enough, so I will check again on my own copy coming and see if there is a mention. Perhaps, Roy can tell us? I wonder if Roy can tell us what his buddy Andy is up to at Cisco these days, too? I wonder if Cisco would think about making their own hubs and switches someday? Gosh, I wonder if they are working on something now? ;-) Or maybe they will buy one of those hot little private companies. I also do wonder if it's easier to spin an ASIC to get AL to work on a Fabric switch than it is to spin an ASIC to get GE working properly? It's going to be a strange year. Rodney Dangerfield won some things at the end of some of his films, no? :-) all imho pigboy
