Thanks for the correction on the Customer Support. You have raised a good question about the provider of Customer Support for banks that are using Checkfree to perform the processing. If Checkfree has to bundle it in with their services it will clearly increase their costs. For what it's worth as a long term user of Checkfree, I estimate that I have to launch an inquiry to Checkfree directly into 1 out 100 transactions. The response is via e-mail and is usually short, sweet and accurate. The problem normally lies in the merchants court, not Checkfree's. The biggest problem is that the transfers to big merchants (a.k.a. billers) have multiple payments bundled into a single wire transfer or check. Usually, when there is a problem the merchant doesn't sort this out and apply credit to the individual account properly. I have been surprised at who the billers are that have the problems! Normally utilities and credit card companies! I am sure that as they improve their methods in handling this type of transactions the number of problems will be reduced. And hopefully an automated tracking or interactive query system will be available that will further reduce the costs associated with Customer Support. Thanks again.
