Absolutely not! The synthetic position you describe is a reasonable approach, though as you say, potentially more expensive. The increased risk (at least risk of increasing costs) is if I would need to roll the position forward. Depending on the market it is entirely possible that AMZN hangs around this level for a while, so requiring that roll.

Thanks for the tutorial anyway. It's good to have that approach 'validated'.

Sadly, logic doesn't seem to affect stock prices much. So maybe wishing is the way forward. ;-)
