I know it was far fetched, I was just having a bit of fun. Trump and his faucet. a few years ago some idiot had the bright idea of towing ice bergs south for water

Eric,
If you look at all the possible paths to pump water (and I do emphasize pump) south in the end it eats up a LOT of electrical power.
Better to just rely on desalination.

And as an added benefit, there may be lithium to extract from the resulting brine.
