Michael,

The Bowser Report Co. of the month GTNR. They have been following this stock since 1991 and mentions the growth of the company. In 1991, sales were $5.2 million. Last year, they were up to $13.4 million. The report does a little background on Frances Flood, 41, who has extensive experience in change management, product development, marketing and sales culture creation. (Early in her career, she was a stockbroker.)

The new president has taken a series of steps to enhance performance, such as:

(1) Controlling cost. In this,she was aided by the comparatively-new CFO Susie Strohm, 37.

(2) Increasing the price of Gentner"s products across the board. (Those price increases have held.)

(3) Introducing tier pricing. Before, the price was the same if you bought 10 or if you bought 100 items.

(4) Stepping up international sales. Example, last month, the Columbian Govt. purchased products for their public television systems.

(5) Doubling the size of the sales force.

(6) Instituting a five year plan.

BROADCAST Last year this segment represented 44% of total sales.
Broadcast sales increased 20% last year.
TELECONFERENCING sales increased 29% last year and were 39% of total sales.

Recently, Gentner expanded its headquarters and plant by adding 20,400 sq.ft.,bringing the total floor space to 40400 sq.ft...This expansion, plus other changes designed to accommodate future growth, resulted in a loss last year.
GNTR is well on its way to meeting 1998's goal of $15.4 million in sales and $850,000 in earnings. The last three quarters have been profitable.
There are over 110 non union full-time employees. . . .
Thirteen market makers. The difference between the bid and ask price is usually 1/16 or 1/8. Price last 24 months 19/32 to 1 15/16.
