That's the problem.

When Cal the President serves as a company spokesman during these CCs, I expect him to speak professionally, factually, and unambiguously. (I don't hold such expectations for Cal the Engineer, a term of endearment I might add. I mean, you can tell he really is enjoying his job these days. And that's great. Not many of us have such enthusiasm for our work.)

Do you remember when Cal and company were using the term 'customer' to talk about the 'Manhattan Project' which was going to be a unique backup application?

Was that project ever completed? Did the 'customer' ever pay for the Manhattan Project and become a true customer in my mind and not just a potential customer? If so, we sure should have had a bang up press release saying that this project was the 'mother of all backup applications'. We've got to sell market awareness and products. (So I appreciated the IBM release yesterday. It was 'fluff' in that it didn't give any hard numbers but it was a simple, necessary step in building awareness.)

If the Manhattan Project wasn't paid for and never will be, I was right then in assuming Ancor was carrying the cost there and right in trying to make the point that I didn't like the way Cal and company were loosely using the term 'customer'.

I'm holding a similar skeptic position on the meaning of Cal's phrase "shipping production units" in regards to the MKII until proven otherwise.
