SMOD,CIEN...never look back when you're up over 1 1/2 point. SMOD,CIEN and companies in tech sector can take a dive when they issue a warning, but they will be up BEFORE earnings come out. This is because their earnings are usually 50% or more than last year which accounts for the surge in price, but it pulls back when it says that next quarter might not be as good. They make great day trades but they are dangerous to take home.

Hi Jeff

Well as you know I'm still in SMOD...this is a good point to reiterate playing earnings...

On the one hand DELL explodes, CEIN & SMOD implode...the game is better played running in advance of earnings in a trending market...

selling the day of earnings like yesterday, knowing that SMOD was announcing after the bell...

I bought the MAR 35's for 2 3/8ths... i of course will hold for now, and would venture a bet that SMOD will recover all the current point loss within the next 2 weeks...knee jerk reactions occur just like this all the time...

In any case I think it's better to sell into the announcement for safety purposes...I own 10 contracts for about $2400...but think i'll be able hopefully to get some of the losses out at some point near term...I'll post it when I trade it...

Let's watch MRK here for today & Mon, for the 3 day bounce play...

Later, Jerry
