This is a repost of portions of an earlier post of mine to you. I think that it is important for the general reader to understand the value of your posts on this thread. ===================================================================== From my post to you: "Well, I've gone over some of your major advice on this LGND thread. You might want to consider posting less and listening more." ====================================================================== Your advice:============ << "The warrants are clearly not a good investment choice as they can easily move up and down 20% in a day for no apparent reason." >> << "If you must own Ligand, buy the stock. If you really must own the warrants, don't buy on margin." >> <<"As I've shown, even when margining the warrants, its best to buy the stock." >> ====================================================================== From my post: As you've shown. Since this great advice of yours, LGNDW has appreciated about 57%, while LGND has appreciated 27%. How would you feel if investors lost out on profits, or even lost money listening to your advice on LGNDW? . ====================================================================== Your advice: << "It might be worthwhile to factor in past performance of LGND in the 1st half of '96 and '97 (spring and summer historically are not good times for biotechs --- however, past performance, is no guarantee, so '98 could be different)." >> ====================================================================== Factor in past performance????? LGND's stock rallied from $11 to $20 from March 96 thru May 96; and also rallied from $9 to $14 1/2 from May 97 thru Jun 97. You would look a little more credible by checking your homework, a little, before you post. In addition, Fidelity's FBIOX "biotech" mutual fund also had a nice rally from May 97 thru July 97. That's two years in a row, in which Ligand has rallied during the 1st half of a year. Is it going to repeat again this year? I hope so! Your note about DELL, after the fact, was enlightening. Are you trying to show that you are an expert on picking a stock to go up "after" it already goes up? I am certainly impressed! There is no certainty that LGND will be a good investment. Based on the information available, I feel that LGND is a good investment. Investors should use their own judgement and do their own research.
