If the Chinese can crank out an all electric city car for 12 grand US,, there in no reason we can’t do the same

The problem has yet to be fixed.

One problem is the current use of tiny little over boosted lawn mower engines to power big SUVs and pickups. Consider yourself lucky if they don't blow up before reaching 100K miles.

As for OHC timing belts, wet or dry, anyone buying an engine that has one and who plans on keeping it any length of time, should determine whether it's an interference or non interference engine. If it's the former, you'll pay a high price with a busted timing belt.

I don't have to worry about timing belt replacement (doesn't have one) in my old Jeep XJ (which I bought new) with the indestructible 4.0 OHV push rod engine. 370,000 miles on it and the original engine has never even had the valve cover off. Still running great. Sometimes old technology is the way to go..
