<<(b) the Law of Conquest still has legitimacy in today's "rules-based world order.">>

Here are the rulz:

(i) If Russia is winning "Law of Conquest" has no legitimacy. Rogue State.
(ii) If USA is winning "Law of Conquest", that is just life, get used to it.

Trouble is, the winning streak has been fading... for a while... but that does not seem to be a problem, even if $$$Billions$$$$ are given to the opposition, arming them to the teeth such as in the Afghanistan withdrawal debacle. That does not seem to bother anyone in the USA Oligarchy though. If fact, they think it's just fine. Good bizziness. Hardly patriotic though.

So what happens now?

The war is going badly. Ukraine and its allies must change course (economist.com)

As I recall, this guy once lived in eastern Ukraine and is divorced from a Russian speaking Ukrainian woman from the area Russia occupies. I don't know what he was doing over there, don't know if he's even an American citizen. But Manafort did well over there so ???? Think he lives in the Pacific northwest now.
