Anyone.......Can I ask a question, or stimulate some debate in regard to box makers in general? I am into HWP, CPQ and have been in and out of GTW. I like them all. However, now that all the big box makers have reported........do you feel I am being overly paranoid in my perception that the game gets much more heated up from here on out? Let me explain; DELL is no longer a small guy growing into a big guy. They are a big guy. They are the single largest threat to IBM, HWP & CPQ on the horizon. Its time to address DELL if the market share game is to be won. Apparently the only way to really hurt DELL is through price. Now that ASIA is going to force the big guys to come back to the U.S. for market share, will the price game become the battle ground in the U.S.? I know that this is already happening, and we all know and see what is happening to HWP in the printer arena. I mean, now that HWP has announced that they will lay off up to 3000 workers in the NW because they want to source finished product from contract manufacturers off shore, does anyone share the perception that PCs will be the next commodity game? If you were a huge computer company like IBM, wouldn't you contract for PCs from the least expensive company out there and rely on your brand name to command a small margin? Beat the price down to the point that DELL will suffer a major financial problem? Or do the big guys realize that putting together a full, broad line of client/server products is worth more than a cheap price? Advice from trained professionals in the field that can show you (a company) how to save major $ over time, day in and day out by setting up the correct network, may gain market share faster than one time savings.....price. What do you think? DWW II
