Bill,
Trump managed the pandemic as well as it could be managed.
Wrong.

a) He was constantly focused on China China China, which accomplishes nothing but assigning blame.

b) That UV light and bleach comment proved that Trump had no clue about COVID-19 nor did he have any intentions on gaining a clue.

c) He was 100% focused on ending shutdowns and restarting the economy. He completely ignored the reasons why said shutdowns were still necessary, even in the latter part of 2020.

d) Even today, he literally said that COVID-19 came in the form of "dust flying in from China," and that ventilators brought the pandemic to an end. No mention of vaccines.

Now there's no guarantee that President Hillary would have been any better at handling the pandemic, but that's irrelevant.

Only the facts are relevant, and the facts point out a bunch of unforced errors on the part of Trump that any sane, competent leader would never have committed.

Trump is and was an ignorant and incompetent fool. Anyone who does not recognize that is an ignorant fool as well.

Tenchu's Thoughts: tRuMp mAnAgEd tHe pAnDeMiC aS wElL aS iT cOuLd bE mAnAgEd

This is the excuse that I hear from the Trump supporters over and over again. It's clearly lowering the bar and minimizing the responsibilities of the presidency during a crisis like the pandemic.

Well, thanks to the revelation that Trump gave COVID tests to PooTin, and thanks to this recent clip from Seth Meyers (who is more of a comedian than a news reporter, but still), I'm reminded of what Trump said about COVID testing:

"I have always said that testing is somewhat overrated ..."

"I don't think you need that much testing!"

Moreover, I remember Trump claiming that, if we had less testing, we'd have fewer COVID cases overall:

Trump: ‘If We Stop Testing, We’d Have Fewer Cases’ (VoA, June 20, 2020)

Can you believe this s--t? It's like if we had less STD testing, we'd have fewer cases of HIV. Or if we had fewer pregnancy tests, we'd have fewer pregnancies.

At a time where people were getting in long lines to get tested, ESPECIALLY the so-called "essential workers" who needed these tests more than anyone else, Trump wanted to REDUCE the amount of testing, because he was so worried about the numbers.

Is THIS "managing the pandemic as well as it could have been managed"?

Is THIS the "best" any world leader could do?

We can debate over whether to do endless lockdowns, or institute mask and vaccine mandates, or fund R&D for vaccines that the Q Continuum would later call cLoT sHoTs, or blame China over and over again, etc.

But to deny the very importance of testing is beyond st00pid.

So yeah, regardless of whether giving COVID tests to PooTin was a good idea or not, and regardless of whether Trump prioritizes his wealthy and powerful supporters over everyday Americans, we need to remind ourselves that Trump clearly dropped the ball when it came to dealing with the pandemic.

And he didn't drop the ball because he was trying hard.

Nope, he dropped the ball because he didn't even want to try hard.
