Denizen, like I said, I didn't watch the VP debate.

In fact, I usually don't watch debates like these. (I made an exception with the Trump-Harris debate, though.)

Often the truth takes a back seat to performance.

In other words, you can tell lie after lie after lie after lie, but as long as you look convincing while doing so, you will "win" the debate.

But if you stand up there and look flustered while trying to tell the truth or at least come up with meaningful answers to said lies, you will "lose" the debate.

P.S. - That "no fact-checking rule" that JD is complaining about supports what I said above. Why have that rule unless, like I said, the truth shouldn't matter?
