Where I live though, there isn't always solar available, and a hybrid beats having to carry a generator when the inevitable happens and one is stranded in the highlands with nowhere to charge up.

The other point is heat. In Scotland, during the winter, a lot of heat is required to keep out the cold and more importantly drive out the damp. Condensation can cause real problems for visibility. Sometimes in the summer too.

I like electric drive though, and glad it's coming back, especially in the cities. It should have never gone out of fashion.
