How faithful to the text of the myth is it would you say?

The only translation I'm familiar with is the Samuel Butler prose translation, which is the one I read as a kid. There are dozens of well-respected other translations, some in prose, some in poetic stanzas in various meters. I tried listening to one in iambic pentameter, but it really dragged. Also, I haven't yet watched the 1997 version except for a few scenes. It seems like a serious attempt to do justice to Homer. I'll watch it this winter when movie-watching season rolls around for me.
