Did you see that the prize in Physics went to two for their work on foundational AI?

I never knew about either of these two: Hopfield network or the Boltzmann machine and their connection to statistical physics. Very fascinating.

It is cool to see that AI has had such mindboggling success in solving the protein folding problem. I suspect this breakthrough is generally vastly underappreciated, and that it will have an enormously beneficial effect on the world, if not already.

Gene splicing was a thang a few years ago and had great promise in as much that correcting genetic errors effectively cured. In the same season the above was discussed in an investment show and it was passed that there was no incentive to invest in a cure when the real money was in keeping the victim sick, treating the symptoms and getting repeat life long customers.

Just saying.

OT: The biggest advance in science brought about by AI so far:

PS. I suspect this YouTube channel is (part) AI generated, by the way. Well presented and watchable, though.
