Craig: Tone it down a bit, please. There are many readers who appreciate your intelligent, objective comments. I certainly appreciate them. Your current emotionally charged remarks seem out of character . Besides, the thread soon deteriorates into a massive food fight.

As for Ciena, I sold covered calls when Ciena was in the high 50s which I bought back today for >400% profit. I am definitely holding onto my shares, however, for essentially the reasons you have already pointed out.

Out of the 4 major telecom companies, WorldCom and Sprint are satisfied Ciena customers, ATT is (hopefully) about to become a major customer, and MCI will soon be bought by WorldCom, who will presumably upgrade and assimilate MCI's infrastructure with Ciena products. You can't ask for better market penetration than that.

It is probably true the Ciena will be dead money for several months, however, barring any other major news.

People in the business say this dog had its day at a 45 PE. Best PE given to the company is 30x (a qualitative analysis).

I have posted under other alias (people who are respected on the thread).
