<< ...is company A directly or even indirectly in the cross-hairs of Microsoft (for example)? If the answer is yes, I don't care if George Gilder thinks Western Civilization depends on it--I'm outta there. See: Netscape. Everybody was trying to persuade me that AMD was a great buy as its stock kept falling through the basement >>

I understand your point but that would have kept you out of great growth stocks like C$CO, MSFT, and A$ND, CPQ, and DELL.

C$CO used to compete against IBM
MSFT competed against IBM
A$ND competed against C$CO
CPQ competed with IBM
DELL competed with CPQ

Mike, as lurker here and on AOL Fool boards, enjoy your approach - great to be light in tone and have some substance too. As a fellow Gilder "nut", note he called GE as coming up fast on outside vs GA before ANAD and other Gal As makers hit air pocket. So have to take his removal of Ciena from his "Ascendant Technologies" list seriously. Trouble is I think on this one he may be too busy finishing his Telecosm book and some underling did "homework" for him. From what I can tell, LU product is in lab - vaporware. No knowledge of anything from NT. Follow both as best I can. Think I am only Nortel shareholder in US of A sometimes when see stuff on LU when NT usually way ahead relatively - but that is another story. My idea is to invest in both LU and NT as "arms" suppliers for telcom equip. On Cien, think watchful waiting is in order. Sure as the devil would not switch out of TLAB for it now - frankly I wouldn't switch out of TLAB for anything now. All IMO. Flawed human. Standard disclaimers, et al and etc. etc. Keep up good work.
