I listened in but did not take notes. My "feel" for the call was one of neutrality. Two of your points reinforce this feeling.

>>6. No new products this year, but look for major updated releases of
existing product, to increase funtionality. This means no large
development costs.<<

It also means "no new products", which for a software company is not good (IMHO). How much can they earn by continuing to sell updates to existing customers? While it is true this will keep costs down, it may also keep revenues down too.

>>9. The only negative that I heard is that they do not have a good
understanding of exactly how their customers are using their tool sets. This needs to be addressed.<<

How can they know what to create, whether updates or new, if they don't have a handle on their customers needs?

Note also that they plan on keeping R&D flat for 1998. Again, for a software firm, this is not good.

All in all, The best comment was that they expect to have 4 positive quarters. if they miss one, it spells disaster (IMHO). ;>)

Henry and All:

Henry, I think you did a great job with your outline of the call.

The only other thing I might add, that John Alexander(acting CEO) said on the call that he was the one that just invested in the company to the tune of 120,000 shares. Now I have never ever met any who would invest money to lose it. So my point is: this guy was Charlie Backman first or second customer and knew about cayn when it was backman, many years ago before I ever knew the company existed. He also has been on the BOD for years, he knows this company better than I ever will. Now this is my point, he waited until now to put down over 200K into CAYN. He must be pretty sure it up from here with what he knows about the company.

I would strongly encourage everyone to listen to a replay of the call on Monday & Tuesday at 1-800-938-0934. Don't forget the call have only been heard by 30 people so far, so its possible when it is released to the general public there may be some more up volume.
