I had heard that some of Oracle's consulting units were having trouble making their numbers so they were shuffling people off to where the work was. We had a NY based Oracle Consulting employee scheduled to give a presentation for the NY Oracle User's Group a few weeks back and had to cancel because he got sent to Florida and his "new" boss wasn't going to spend the money to fly him back to NY for the talk.

<< I live in greater bay area, and I've heard a few times in the last couple weeks of people I know knowing people working for Oracle getting travel orders >>

Interesting. I also live in the bay area and recently sent a resume to Oracle Consulting. I have a strong resume of independent consulting in Oracle at the corporate headquarters of a number of Fortune 500 companies. Surprisingly, I didn't hear back from them at all.

Perhaps demand for their (very expensive) consultants has dropped off a bit. Anyway, demand for independents continues to be strong, as far as I can tell.

Joe, you know more than me about personnel
movement within ORCL.

I only know what is in the news.

Don't buy ORCL unless you are comfortable with the purchase.
Do your own homework first.
