More advantage to X2 ISPs:

Jhild said, discussing the K56flex to V.90 upgrade, "The V.90 will in fact be an opportunity for K56Flex ISPs to actually get x2 customers. It broadens my choices for one, though I won't feel comfortable until fall as far as actual trouble free connection, so I am likely to go with a current x2 ISP. Besides, as a COMS stockholder, I will be happy to throw the business to a "farsighted" ISP."

Another reason to consider is the better speed performance reported for X2 by Boardwatch recently (#reply-3462298). I would suspect there is a good chance this will carry through to the final V.90 implementation, at least for a while. Choosing a provider who has X2-based equipment rather than K56-based equipment may get you this advantage, even with V.90 installed.

Hard to tell, of course, until it's out there.
