>>They're the guys who paid AOL something like $100 Mil to advertise on their site. <<

Interesting... this further confirms that AOL revenues are a bit inflated I don't think they will find many dummies willing to pay big bucks for an ineffective ad media.

Eric:>>Pancho, on CIEN: Closed out the short at 41, down 17. Ummm, in this market, profits on shorts are hard to come by. <<

You bet. No one can take a profit away from you! Greed is not good, it is bad! Today, I covered most of my DDIM short (I think I shorted around 22 last November) at 133/4 a small portion of the limit order did not go through. Considering shorting more BFIT but decided to take a break for a while, let this puppy unwind some more.

Eric, Agree on TALK, been watchin that one closely. I was watchin it @ 12:02 when the news came out. It was actually old news, they had told people that they were tryin to sell the company a few weeks ago, today they said they retained Smith Barney. I caught the updraft for 1 3/4 points, a nice 3 minute trade :-). I will see what the share availability is here on Dreyfus.

<TALK> Eric, last Fall I read somewhere like TALK's accounting would deduct the ad fee to AOL in 40 yrs so they could show less current loss. About, BFIT this sucker is still strong, hope I have no self-doubt soon. Also if they have options for BFIT?

The CIEN short was nothing more than a GAMBLE.....The reason for the fall was due to WCOM pushing back some contracts....WCOM is going to upgrade on a NEED-Bandwidth basis rather than pre-building their infrastructure.....So the WCOM contracts got pushed out and that is why the growth won't be there next Q....

Perhaps we should be looking at WCOM as a good short after they announce results ending March 31, 1998.....

The delay in building out the infrastructure should help EPS and CRUSH those that are short.....It will help the MCI shareholders too ....They want a certain $$$ for their shares......WCOM MUST MAKE THIS HAPPEN....In my opinion they are doing this (delaying build out) so that they have some leadway so the merger goes through.....
