Investment firm Texas Pacific Group (TPG) invests in a wide assortment of companies through LBOs, joint ventures, or recapitalizations. Its holdings include Kraft's caramel and marshmallow unit, Ducati motorcycles, a couple of petroleum companies, and wineries. TPG's main investment funds are TPG Partners L.P. and TPG Partners L.P. II (with a combined capitalization of $3 billion); it also has interests in several Newbridge partnerships (overseas investments), Genesis ElderCare (nursing homes), and Colony Capital (real estate). TPG makes money from fees for managing the funds in addition to profits from increased holdings values. CEO David Bonderman is best known for turning around Continental Airlines.
