Laura, The reality of the situation is that on the 8th of next month, DELL will split and sometime soon after, it will undergo a correction and what they call backfilling. It will probably lose about 30 or more points. When things seem the darkest and dell has crashed terribly and the DELLheads are crying on this thread, then that is the time you should buy DELL. There might be 5 or 10 more bucks in the current rally, but you should probably sit on your DELL money and wait for the inevitable correction to come. The DELLheads might disagree with me for saying this, but you asked for opinions.

Laura, I don't believe you can time the market. If you're comfortable with DELL at it's current price and outlook buy it now. The market timers are almost invariably the ones who get crushed in corrections. Those of us who buy and hold are happy campers over the long run.

Paul

Laura, I have the some intention as you trying to get more dell shares. However, I looked today's intra-day chart, DELL was very strong at the close. This is a very bullish sign. Institution is buying at the dip so we may not see a drop in short time, for example, before the split. Highly likely, another 10% rise before down. I will try to buy more next Mon. at the market.

Regards,

Andy

Laura,

Before you even considering listening to Flamethrower,
please read the following post he wrote just a day ago.

exchange2000.com

No one ever regrets buying Dell. They only regret selling it.

Laura,
I waited from early '94 until last October to buy Dell at 100 just in time to watch it tank with everything else. My 12 month target at the time was 150+. Bought more at 78 and now have a 40% gain and am half way to my target.

Conclusion...if you are going to hold for a year or more there is no bad time to buy Dell and you can miss a lot by waiting for a better time.

My prediction is that Dell is at 130-140 when it splits and tests that price twice over the next 3 or 4 months, then moves toward 100 again by Xmas. FWIW about as much as you paid for it.
