A Marine will advise you not to call him or her a "soldier". Marines consider "soldiers" to be members of the Army. Not meaning any sort of degrading with that, we all serve equally. It's more a pride kind of thing as the Marines have always been much fewer in total numbers and feel like they earn the distinction. Each branch has much to be proud of, all of it well earned.

Yes, they even have songs denigrating each other. My stepdad who was a pilot in the Navy used to sing one of them about the Air Force sometimes, under his breath.
