My disappointment with cpq is that what I thought I owned is now something else. I wanted a gazelle and I got a big ox, like IBM. I've got plenty of lumbering Dow giants but really wanted something quicker and finer, something more exciting and, admittedly, more volatile (on the upside, of course). Face it everyone, the thrill is gone. dp Just want to add that today I feel that compaq has BECOME my father's oldsmobile.

To Barry: I've seen this type of "short squeeze/own at
almost any price" Dell runup last year. At the time
(late May to mid June) Dell made a move from around 92 to about
120 and then backed off. CPQ then picked up the PC investing
torch and charged ahead into the 110 range from about 90. I'll
bet the shares I bought on Monday a similar runup in CPQ
happens very soon. (Recent excellent news on Tandem will
help). Although a very fine company (I made some fast bucks
on it last year too) Dell is definitely oversold and with
a PE approaching 50 IS OVERPRICED. Although not a major
factor but still a healthy one is the fact that Mr. John
Q. Public can still purchase a decent amount of CPQ shares
at their current price level. Most folks just don't buy stocks
with prices above lets say the 90 dollar mark. With the small
investor and the heavy mutual fund hitters buying CPQ and its
projected future growth with Tandem and Digital almost a no-
brainer, I am convinced that the street will begin to accumulate
CPQ starting this Monday. Remember the Options brakes are off
for at least two to maybe three weeks. With the Dell runup in
GTW and HWP evident on Thursday and Friday a big POP in CPQ
(about 5 bucks) during this upcoming week is almost written
in stone. Anyway LETS MAKE A TON OF $$$$ ON THIS ONE!!!!!
