You are taking a big leap of faith thinking that Trump is being influenced by Putin's threat of nuclear war. Trump is looking to streamline government spending. In case you haven't noticed, his values support an America first philosophy. Of course, people will have different interpretations of what that means or entails. For Trump, it partially means tax cuts for businesses and individuals.

Trump has never been to fond of NATO. With all the terrorists uprisings there, I am sure he wouldn't mind getting out of that alliance altogether.

Is Trump making a mistake getting out of the Ukraine/ Russian war? That remains to be seen.

The bottom line is that he sees the money the US has spent on Ukraine and thinks it could be put to better use spending it domestically helping Americans and businesses.
