J.D. That is some stretch, but it is your
opinion and I understand.
Did you follow the entire thread with
Brendan? It has some bearing on my thoughts.
I earned a substantial living as a
trial lawyer until I retired in 1991. At
present, I teach college business law. I
do so because I love teaching. It is not
for the money paid to an adjunct faculty
member.
If you think paying Fedorov $36M is
a good idea then you will have no problem
paying for season tickets to see him play
in Charlotte.
I once had season tickets (4) to the
Detroit Lions, the Detroit Tigers and
frequently went to Detroit Red Wing games.
I cancelled those season tickets and not
because I had to but because I was not
going to be a fool (without the capital)
and pay the outrageous price.
I was blessed with ability and ambition.
I grew-up with first generation values which
meant, you could be anything you wanted to be
in America. All you had to do was put forth
the effort. I thank God each and everyday for
those blessings.
I am not unmindful of those who are less
fortunate and no matter what efforts they put
forth they will always be lunch bucket carriers.
Their blessings fell short.
True, some remain in that position because
they do not have that work ethic. Is it not
amazing that the recent immigrants to America
have that work ethic and they climb the ladder
in much the same way as my parents did by being
small business owners. Ours was the restaurant
business, today's immigrants try the party
store route.
J.D. I again say you need to follow the entire
conversation with Brendan to understand. It
began with something about those dam money grubbing
lawyers and their dam frivolous law suits.
I do not easily tolerate shotgun remarks.

P.S. My last frivolous law suit was a class action against
the State of Michigan when they sought to impose state
income tax on lottery winners after the fact (ex post facto)
and after fighting the State through the Court of Claims,
the Michigan Appellate Court and an application to the
Michigan Supreme Court the state finally agreed that my
postion in behalf of my 4000 clients was correct. It saved
these lottery winners many dollars over the 20 years that
they would be receiving their winnings. My fee was contingent
on what I saved those clients for just the first year. It
was substantial and I got to endorse the seven figure check
to my partner and myself while being a patient in Beaumont
Hospital after a near fatal heart attack.
J.D., that event brought everything into much better focus
in my life.
