Yup - I know someone who tested just above boarder line for A1C and very high LDL cholesterol - doctor wanted to start medicines. We looked at side effects of the medicines - she decided to treat it conservatively (heh) by watching diet and exercise. In her group, people tend to be high hA1C. In a few months her cholesterol is now down to borderline (tremendous drop) and A1C is normal range. Doctor says she still needs to take medicines. "No, doctor, you give the tests and I'll consider if your advise makes sense - in this case, no."
