I strongly doubt childish as to be vindictive towards Musk - the same way European leaders are childish.

Tariffs are not anywhere on China's "red lines", as Xi spelled them out to Biden yesterday. Taiwan is #1 and "development" is mentioned twice on China's red lines.

It is a neocon strategy to provoke war China by pushing for Taiwan outright independence. Trump is not crazy about the idea.

Various sanctions on semiconductors started under Trump and greatly accelerated under Biden - that would be in the area of the West creating obstacles to China's development. Which is a red line. It's unknown what the new policy under next Trump administration would be, with neocon influence over US policy diminished.

It'll be interesting to see how Musk responds to the news that Teslas kill their occupants twice as often per X miles driven as other cars. And it's being blamed on FSD rather than structural problems with the cars: cleantechnica.com

This is obviously the best guy to put in charge of regulating driver assistance systems. Another great pick from Trump.

And the wild thing is that BEV buyers tend to be "save the planet" types who are typically slow, careful drivers.

And Tesla is the one car that always has "the most advanced" driver assistance features (to make you safer?) vs. other brands where it's an option and not always included.

But Tesla cars kill twice as often....
