Rarebird, the majority of Iraqis also hated the Saddam regime. Iraq was the focus of heavy economic sanctions. We were also going after his WMDs, remember that? We now have a secular-ish government in Iraq, but that took decades to establish, not to mention a few thousand American lives and a few trillion dollars of American taxpayer funds.
