Yes and No! Any experience with designing and using Fibre Channel products produces knowledge which can be an advantage for doing future developments successfully. However, if a corporate culture gets religious about Classes or topologies, which class or topology is "RIGHT," rather than looking at things pragmatically from the ever changing perspectives of a wide variety of customer needs, then a history of success with Class 1 (for example) can be a detriment to getting on with something that obsoletes it. Class 4 is not a direct descendant of Class 1.
