There was no evidence to convict him. Anyone can stand up and say chit for political purposes if they don't like you or fon't want you in power. They do the same thing to teachers in public school when they don't like the teacher, or when the teacher fails a student or gives to much homework. I have seen it happen. Happened to a friend of mine in school. He told me it was a lie, bullshit. He was a good guy too, a real good guy.
