Douglas, <Ed, Arakis is the only company to have hired mercenatries to fight alongside of government soldiers..> Right now Arakis is struggling to raise their part of the remaining funds required for the exploration program and the pipeline construction. I believe Arakis certainly hired security for it's company workers and equipment, (obviously necessary after all the threats), but that is a far stretch from hiring soldiers to fight the SPLA. Do you have any evidence to support your claim? The reason I ask is because there are investors like myself who believe that Arakis is in the business of exploration and development of oil. I do believe it would constitute fraud by SEC standards if Arakis was secretly subsidizing a war with shareholders cash. <IMO about 60% of the Africans are Christians, 10% Muslims, and 30% are traditional religions.> I believe that translates to 24% of Sudanese population is Christian. I got my 5% figure from the Universal Almanac last year, will look into World Almanac to compare latest data. <The main point is that the SPLA must represent a whole lot more people than just 5% of the population base or else they could not field and maintain such a large fighting force..> Just exactly how strong is the SPLA army, 5% of African population = 600,000. As far as the other concessions in Sudan I was under the impression that Sands was going full speed ahead. All said, I don't think the SPLA is strong enough to oust the NIF govern but I'm hoping the SPLA can land an acceptable peace agreement backed by the UN. I believe in order for that to become a reality I think the facts must be kept straight. Ed
